Using the File Manager

ReadyRedact's File Manager offers an easy way to keep folders and documents organized so you can easily browse and access the contents of your directory. You will need to have a basic understanding of navigating the File Manager to complete these tasks.

1. Accessing the File Manager:

The File Manager is accessible by default from the Dashboard (A). It can be expanded to view as a full screen by clicking on the expand icon in the upper right corner (B). You can search folders and files using the Search bar, which is also in the upper right hand corner (C), and can change the view of your files to large folder icons or detailed line items by clicking on the View icon (D).

2. Creating Folders in the File Manager

2.1: Click on the New Folder icon located to the right of the Quick Redact widget.

2.2: A prompt will appear asking for the New Folder name. Enter the name and hit Create. Make note that new folders will appear in the project folder that is selected at the time of folder creation. Please make sure you have selected the desired folder location prior to creating a new folder because folders cannot be moved from one to the other using the drag and drop feature or the cut and paste option. Note: you CAN use both the Drag & Drop and the Cut & Paste options to move files, just not folders. If you accidentally create a new folder in the wrong location in the directory, archive the folder and create a new one in the correct location.

3. Uploading files into the File Manager:

3.1: Select the Folder you want the uploaded document to be stored in and then click on Upload Document near the top right corner of the screen.

3.2: Select the desired document you wish to upload from your PC and click Upload.

3.3: The File Manager allows users to move files by using its Drag & Drop feature. To use this option, click on the file you wish to move and drag it to the folder you wish to store it.

3.4: Users can also move files using the Cut & Paste feature. The Cut & Paste options can be found underneath the ReadyRedact File Manager. This is also where the Archive button is allowing you to permanently delete a file, as well as Download and Share options. Please note that a file must be selected for these options to appear.

4. Browsing the File Manager:

4.1: Primary folders and subfolders are accessible on the left-side column of the File Manager. This is your directory's home base for viewing documents and an easy way to see where you are at within your directory.

4.2: To see the contents of a directory, click on the desired folder or sub-folder on the left-side File Manager column. You can also double click the folder or sub-folder on the right-side column of the File Manager to open and view contents.

  1. Searching the File Manager

5.1: In order to search for a File or Folder in the File Manager, you must first click on the primary "My Projects" folder to ensure the entire directory will be searched.

5.2: Once you've locked in the primary directory, enter the name or partial names of the folder or file you wish to locate into the Search bar near the top right of the screen. To begin the search, click on the magnifying glass icon. Note: simply hitting return or enter will not begin the search, you must click on the magnifying glass icon.
