Redacting Documents
1. Redaction Tools:
After uploading a document to ReadyRedact, you have several options for redacting sensitive information: Search Text and Search Regex. To access the Search and Regex Text Redaction features, click the redaction icon on the document editor toolbar.
2. Redaction Preview:
The Redaction Preview feature is enabled by default. When enabled, redactions that will be applied will appear blacked out. This is a preview of what the final redaction will look like when a file is complete. Disabling the Redaction Preview will show an outline of what will be redacted when the file is complete. This allows the user to still see the data that will be redacted while completing the document.
3. Search Text Redaction:
The Search Text feature allows users to search for exact text in the file to redact. If "Policy 1234" was input, ReadyRedact will search the file for all instances of "Policy 1234" and apply the redaction every time the phrase appears in the document.
4. Regular Expressions Redaction:
Regular expressions search for patterns in the file to apply redactions. For example, a regular expression of:
[0-9]{3}[-]{1}[0-9]{2}[-]{1}[0-9]{4}
###-##-####
will search for a social security number.
5. Apply Redactions:
To burn redactions into the file, click Apply. This will permanently redact all redactions that were drawn or automatically applied to the file.
6. Clear Redactions:
To clear all redactions on the file, simply click the Clear button.
7. Auto Redaction Rules:
Auto Redaction Rules are predefined rules that, when selected, automatically search the file and apply quick redactions. For example, if Credit Card is selected, ReadyRedact will search the file for all credit card numbers and automatically apply a redaction. To set Auto Redaction Rules, navigate to Settings --->Auto Redaction Rules from your side navigation bar. From there, you can enable, disable and archive the pre-set Auto Redaction Rules. You can also add and edit new Auto Redaction Rules from this page. Click here to learn more about adding new Auto Redaction Rules.
